I don't think there's ever a wrong occasion for bubbles. A random Tuesday night at your favorite natural wine bar (mine is Gray's Hall in Boston) served alongside a burger and fries? Yes please. Celebrating your bestie's new job with a massive cheese and charcuterie board on display? Absolutely necessary. Sitting on your couch rewatching The Sopranos with your cat for the third time? You bet.

This mentality really pays off when it comes to being prepared for holidays that do typically require a sparkler of sorts—like Valentine's Day. Frankly, I consider my year-round sparkling wine sipping a public service that allows me to recommend highly curated, well-tested (and tasted) bottles to my fellow wine lovers. Whether you're celebrating solo (with or without your cat), going all-out for your Galentine, or getting cozy with your honey, here are the sparkling wines I suggest you snag for V-Day, plus a few of my favorite food pairings to enjoy them with.

A note about ordering wine online: Mysa Wine and Primal Wine are my favorite online wine retailers because they offer an impressive, rotating selection of beautiful bottles, plus they ship to most states. Before you order, be sure to check that you live in a place they can ship to, and keep an eye on those shipping cutoffs—shipping times vary depending on the retailer, so your safest bet is to order ASAP to ensure you get your bottles in time.

1. Classic Bubbles

This lovely Domaine Gross 2019 Cremant d'Alsace hails from the Alsace region of France, and it's about as classic as it gets when it comes to bubbles. Crisp and bright with notes of apricot, this sparkling wine is organic, biodynamic, and the Pinot Auxerrois and Riesling grapes used to make it are harvested by hand.

Pair it with: Crispy Garlic Dip, Pretzel for a Crowd, Little Gem Salad With Fish Sauce Vinaigrette & Fried Eggs

2. Pink Bubbles

Leon Gold 2020 Super Glou Pink Gold Pét-Nat is the pét-nat—or pétillant naturel, if you're fancy—of my dreams. It's juicy, mineral, and big on cherry vibes, and I will never not order it when I see it on a menu. As far as pét-nats go, it's pretty light on the level of funk, which makes it incredibly food-friendly. It's also pink, so it's perfect for this rose-hued holiday.

Pair it with: Grilled Oysters With Sichuan Chili Butter, Shrimp Tacos Dorados, al Pastor-Style, Chocolate Cherry Pie

3. Red Bubbles

For another seasonal shade, I love a sparkling red like Il Farneto 2021 Frisant Rosso. This natural red hails from Emilia-Romagna, Italy and it's made in the pét-nat style with biodynamic grapes, native yeasts, and minimal added sulfites. (If you love Lambrusco, you'll probably also love this sparkler.) Psst: Sparkling reds are pretty much always the perfect pizza wine.

Pair it with: French Onion Burger, Ammama's Favorite Pizza, Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Cookies

4. Canned Bubbles

If your Valentine's Day plans involve outdoor sipping, first off, lucky you. Second, Hollow Wines Canned 2-Packs are the oh-so-portable solution you've been searching for. Available in effervescent orange and sparkling pink, both of these skin contact cuties are ready for an adventure. Cali Bubbles has notes of peach and chamomile, while Rosé of Aglianico is big on salinity and strawberries.

Pair it with: Pull-Apart Garlic Knots, Oven Rib-Eye Steak, Chocolate Caramels

5. Low-ABV Bubbles

Instead of the usual 11 to 13 percent ABV, Wonderwerk 2021 Free Your Mind Piquette boasts a cool 6 percent ABV, which means all you “just one glass” gals can bump it up to two or three with this bottle. This is because it's a piquette, which is made by adding water to the leftovers from the winemaking process (known as grape pomace) and fermenting it. In this case, Riesling pomace is fermented with Carignan grapes, Japanese plums, and hibiscus for a juicy, refreshing sip that tastes of pomegranates and raisins.

Pair it with: Easiest, Cheesiest Skillet Dip, Sticky Chili Chicken With Hot & Sour Pineapple, Flourless Pecan Cake

6. Orange Bubbles

Little Brunswick 2021 Tidy Town Moscato Giallo Pét-Nat is a naturally sparkling organic wine made in Victoria, Australia. It's lightly peppery, majorly tropical fruit-forward, and definitely the funkiest tasting options on this list. Because it's such a bold wine, it pairs well with equally bold flavors like rich cheese, salty meats, and tangy sweets.

Pair it with: Flaky Baked Samosas, Cheesy Prosciutto & Arugula Flatbread, Lemon, Blackberry, and Poppy Seed Ice Cream

7. No-Proof Bubbles

For a booze-free bubbly option, Thomson and Scott Noughty Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Rosé is my top choice. This Spanish non-alcoholic wine is medium-dry with subtle notes of raspberry and strawberry, thanks to the organic Tempranillo grapes it's made with.

Pair it with: Furikake Chex Mix Snack, Cacio e Pepe, Maialino's Olive Oil Cake
